Abstract. ABSTRACT

The present investigation was conducted during the kharif 2023 and summer 2024 seasons at ICAR-IIPR, Regional Research Station, Dharwad. The genotypes were sown in two sets using an augmented design. One set was laid out under unprotected conditions to screen for foliar diseases, while the second set was grown under protected conditions for variability studies, estimation of correlation and path coefficients. Significant variation was observed amongst the mungbean genotypes for all traits studied during both the seasons. Plant height, number of branches per plant, and number of pods per plant exhibited high PCV and GCV in both seasons. Except for number of seeds per pod, all traits showed high heritability. The traits such as number of branches per plant, plant height, number of clusters per plant, number of pods per cluster, 100 seed weight, and yield per plant demonstrated high GAM coupled with high heritability in both seasons. The 100 seed weight, number of pods per plant were found to be positively and significantly correlated with yield per plant, along with a positive and direct effect on yield per plant (g) in both kharif 2023 and summer 2024 seasons. The pod length was positively and significantly correlated with seed yield and number of pods per plant exhibited a positive and direct effect on seed yield per plant (g) in both the seasons. Four genotypes IPMD32, DGG-181, DGG-107, and DGG-184 showed resistance to anthracnose. Five genotypes TMB-37, 3-MBRD-56, DGG-181, DGG-107, and DGG-184 showed resistance to powdery mildew, while eight genotypes exhibited resistance to cercospora leaf spot during kharif 2023. DGG-63, DGG-302, DGG-96 and IPMD15-7 showed resistance to MYMV during summer 2024. Further these lines must be screened in multilocation for confirming their response to various foliar diseases, further high yielding disease resistant line can be released as a variety.
