Abstract. ABSTRACT
An experiment entitled "Organic nutrient management in soilless cultivation of palak (Beta vulgaris var. bengalensis Hort.) genotypes under protected condition" was conducted at the Hi- Tech Horticulture Unit, University of Agricultural Science, Dharwad, during 2023-24 in Factorial Randomized Complete Block Design. It involved forty eight treatments with three replications, to asses response of three varieties (Harit Shobha, Arka Anupama, All Green) as factor I to sixteen nutrition treatments as factor II involving liquid organic manure (jeevamrutha and vermiwash), biofertilizers (Azospirillium, Phosphorous solubilizing bacteria .and rhizosphere consortia) and growth stimulants (humic acid and phyllosphere consortia).Among palak varieties, ‘Harit Shobha’ recorded higher plant height, leaf length, leaf width, leaf area, number of leaves, total leaf yield (575.16 g/plant), ascorbic acid (59.89 mg/100 g), shelf life (5.33 days) and benefit cost ratio (3.14). It was followed by ‘Arka Anupama’. Among organic nutrition, Vermiwash (10 %) + Jeevamrutha (10 %) + Rhizosphere Consortia (10 %) + Phyllosphere consortia (4 %) [N16] recorded higher plant height, leaf length, leaf width, leaf area, total leaf yield (518.34 g/plant), lower moisture content (86.06 %), lower oxalate content (442.24 mg/100 g), higher ascorbic acid (66.63 mg/100 g), shelf life (5.11 days), higher B:C ratio (2.83) which is on par with (Vermiwash (10 %) + Jeevamrutha (10 %) + Azospirillum (10 %) + Phyllosphere consortia (4 %) [N15]. Harit Shobha recorded higher growth, yield and quality among varieties. The organic treatment Vermiwash (10 %) + Jeevamrutha (10 %) + Rhizosphere Consortia (10 %) + Phyllosphere consortia (4 %) [N16] is beneficial in terms of quality and economics among organic nutrition. The interaction between varieties and nutrition was found non-significant.
